Welcome
From our base in the Wildcat Centre, we greet visitors and give advice on walks and attractions in and around Newtonmore, manage the popular Wildcat Experience (seeking out 132 life-size painted model wildcats around the village) and promote and maintain the Wildcat Trail (a delightful 10k signposted orbital walk around the village). We work in partnership with other local attractions (e.g. Highland Folk Museum, Highland Wildlife Park), local landowners, crofters as well as local businesses and schools. The Trust maintains a website and a page on Facebook.
We provide small grants to support local projects.

The Wildcat Trail
- Walk all or part of the 10km orbital path around the village of Newtonmore at the heart of the Highlands.
- Magnificent views of the Cairngorm and Monadhliath mountain ranges, through open moorlands, native woodland and alongside two rivers, with waterfalls and a river gorge.

- Buy a Wildcat Trail brochure, which gives details about the walk, for £4.00 – also available from the village Post Office.

In 2025, the Trust installed a number of interpretative plaques around the Wildcat Trail providing information or as you walk around through Trail, scan the QR code on the plaques. You can also purchase a comprehensive book called “Wild Flower Walks Around Newtonmore” by local author, Sue Thomas, at the Wildcat Centre.
